Dyslexic difficulties do not always present foremost as challenges with spelling and reading. Many dyslexic individuals develop compensation strategies, some are well supported at home and at school and many work ‘oh so incredibly’ hard, so that, on the face of it, their reading and spelling skills look secure. Yet challenges with speed of verbal processing or word finding may mean students take longer to formulate ideas for writing and/or speech.
